We didn’t have the best of starts to the day…. Flynn decided he would try his luck chasing a rabbit on his morning walk… he should know that at almost 10 years old he no longer has the legs for it! He took a pretty bad tumble and has cut his back legs quite badly. Because greyhounds don’t have much flesh it took a lot to stop them bleeding and he is now very stiff and sore and is struggling to stand up or lie down… if anyone wants to stop by his site and show him some love he says he will be very grateful…. there’s nothing like a greyhound who’s feeling sorry for himself!

On the other hand… I have had to have the day off work to nurse the invalid and so another 2 lenses are born. Anyone For Croquet? and The Disappearance Of The Keepers Of The Flannan Isles Lighthouse. Though I need to add stuff to both to make them complete. Perhaps I will make Giant Squid status by the end of the year! :)

Wow, I didn’t realise there was such an array of door knockers to choose from when I was looking for one as a present for a friend recently! They seem to be making a bit of a comeback so I thought it might make a nice shopping lens. I have published Door Knockers Are Back With A Bang!
If you are looking for something ‘that little bit different’ drop in and take a look.

Hi, it’s flighty…. its been a fair while since my last post, so what have I been getting up to?

Well… I have launched Calorie Counting - Fruit It’s not intended to just be a list of fruit with their calories attached but will also try to give tips how you can incorporate the fruit into your recommended ‘5 a day’ and maybe link to recipes as the lens progresses - take a look, I always appreciate feedback and try to act on constructive criticism :)

Has anybody heard the Dolly Parton 9 to 5 dance remix? I have just updated the lens with a new YouTube video featuring the remix.

I have been updating most things, my top 5 lyric lenses are doing quite well and getting a fair amount of traffic: Abba:The Winner Takes It All | Abba: Mamma Mia | Ray Stevens: The Streak | Dolly Parton: Better Get To Livin | Benny Hill: Ernie (The Fastest Milkman In The West)

Back to the updating……

I have just published my lensography, it is by no means complete so I hope that I am going in the right direction with it, but it begins to let people know what I am about.

On another note, I seem to have been attracting a lot of spammy comments on squidtop… just got rid of 14 which made absolutely no sense at all :/ all from different IP’s… just wondered if it is happening to anybody else.

An increase in traffic…

June 26th, 2008

Not much activity from me over the last few days but I have tweaked and updated a few lenses with the help of the Squidoo healthcheck and traffic is definately beginning to improve.

Check out Ginger Spice and Its’ Uses for my recent updates, new modules have been added and there are some links to some yummy recipes using ginger… if you have any of your own favourite recipes add the link to the list.

After a bit of a quiet Sunday my published lens of the day today is:

Dolly Parton: You Better Get To Livin’ Lyrics

The lens features the accompanying video and a free legal Mp3 download of the song along with other Dolly Downloads.

Its been a bit wet and windy here in West Yorkshire today… at least I didn’t feel too guilty about sitting in front of the PC and making a few new lyrics lenses :)

Death Cab For Cutie: I Will Possess Your Heart

Jewel: Stronger Woman

The Sweet: Ballroom Blitz

Been playing around doing one or two music lyric lenses, so far only 3 blasts from the past, the first was Benny Hill’s Ernie (The Fastest Milkman in the West), I enjoyed doing that one so then came up with Blockbuster by The Sweet and The Streak by Ray Stevens.

It is a great, quick and enjoyable way of adding to your lenses…

Thanks to  Victoria Neely’s Squidoo Diary for Tip #27!

Yesterday I was asked if I would like to go on an outing from work…You might say that’s good, it will give you something different to do!Fantastic, I thought that I could catch up with people I hadn’t seen for a while and a good time would be had by all… but, I had to refuse because the idea is to go Greyhound Racing and I feel very strongly about how some of these dogs who are bred for the sport of racing are treated.I believe that:

Greyhounds are massively over bred. Thousands of greyhound pups are bred each year (About 25,000 greyhound pups are registered every year in the British Isles). From that there is a percentage which are culled early on because they are the runts of the litter.

Tens of thousands of dogs are disposed of every year by the British greyhound racing industry - because they fail to make the grade as racers or when their racing days are over.

At least 10,000 greyhounds retire from racing in Britain every year, at an average age of just 2 years old. This is either because of injury or because they are adjudged to be no longer good enough to race. Very few of these dogs manage to find good homes.

Many ex-racing greyhounds are simply abandoned and a large number are killed, sometimes by extremely cruel methods such as drowning or poisoning, because some owners and trainers are not prepared to pay the cost of having them put to sleep by a vet.

Greyhounds can make excellent pets, I have one myself. Is it right that they are bred to provide human entertainment in the form of Greyhound racing? Do you have an opinion?

Please voice your opinion in The Greyt Debate, I would love to hear from you and all opinions are welcome.
